Diet pill companies are always taking interesting steps, and I have to wonder why they wouldn’t just be honest about it and use some common ingredient like green tea or something. But one company, Young You Corp out of Tarzana California, was caught using prescription drug sibutramine in its diet pills slimbionic, one weight loss pill, slimDemand capsules, and botanical weight loss. Essentially speaking, at least they stuck to weight loss, others did not.
Sibutramine is the main ingredient in prescription Meridia, which is one of two approved for long term use. Still, it is monitored as a prescription for a reason, all of its side effects. It works as an appetite suppressant, and frankly it runs the risk of increased blood pressure, increased heart rate, and complete heart failure for some individuals. So to say the least, it wasn’t the smartest thing to do. But the biggest thing is that prescriptions are not cheap, so why wouldn’t they just use a cheaper ingredient that still worked but didn’t require a prescription? That’s what I fail to understand. I guess they thought it would give their product an extra kick and an extra edge or something.
